Sara Lisa Bals, é natural da região de Voralberg na Áustria, situada entre os Alpes e o Tirol, onde as tradições culturais têm uma forte presença no quotidiano. Atualmente a viver e trabalhar e Viena, desenvolve uma prática artística dentro da área da performance.
Durante o tempo de residência optou por uma reflexão da sua prática artística e de explorar através da escrita e do desenho novos percursos na sua prática performativa.

Apresentou “A Song on Repeat” um momento de criação colectiva, em conjunto com Kosma Bresson e Abbey City Food.

Sara-Lisa Bals is an interdisciplinary Artist born in the Alps of Austria and currently based in Vienna. She came to Porto in September, following an invitation by Galeria Rua do Sol to work in their studio as Artist in Residence.
As an artist, she works in different media such as performance, installation, video, scenography, and text. In her artistic practice she explores topics of love, desires and power structures in order to create moments of poetry. Sara-Lisa often works in collaborations - gathering artists of different genres, backgrounds and abilities together who share her interests and values to meet in practice.
Some of Sara-Lisa’s work has been shown in Vienna at S_P_I_T_, festival/Tanzquartier, imagetanz/ brut and WUK, to name a few. In 2023 she received the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Office’s START scholarship for music and performing arts as well as the ATLAS Scholarship at ImPulsTanz Festival. Her work has been shortlisted for Preis der Kunsthalle Wien in 2020, and awarded with Vorarlberg’s art award for new coming artists 2023.
